Singer/songwriter Tim Jackson has announced the release of "The Map's Already Drawn", his eighth album of new material.
The latest work from Jackson features a cast of stellar musicians to
highlight songs deeply rooted in modern Americana.
From Southern folklore toward the new world order, the 10 songs take the
listener on a journey across a land torn in tales of hope, heartbreak, mystery and
discovery.
Songs include "This Lonely Place," "The Map's Already Drawn," "Down the Mississippi,"
"Shoebox Museum," "French Quarter," and "18 Wheels."
Even after 19 years in the music industry, Jackson’s often-metaphysical musings and catchy guitar licks
haven’t lost the charm they held when he first hit the charts in the ‘80s with Rock and Rolls The Blues With Lipstick On.
“Tim Jackson sings with street corner soul and graffiti tongue” ...San Francisco Weekly
With song subjects ranging from the underdog to life in modern America, Jackson is a difficult artist to pin a label on.
Like an anglo-American Songs In The Key of Life-era Stevie Wonder, Jackson is usually concerned with more important issues than his own life or problems. But his contemplations are couched in country-rock trappings - imagine the kind of music that would be produced by a Buddhist monk raised in Austin, Texas.
“Jackson’s songwriting has deepened with age. He is Americana that is raw to the core” ...Village Voice
His latest studio-recorded CD also brings Jackson’s very unique voice, which can best be described as a cross between the soulful howl of Nick Drake and the honeyed whispers of ex-Zombie frontman Colin Blunstone, to the foreground. Having opened for artists such as Luka Bloom, The Barenaked Ladies, Peter Case and Marshall Crenshaw, Jackson’s voice is a familiar one to audiences around the United States.
